A strong area of low pressure from the Pacific Ocean is bringing heavy rain, mountain snow, strong winds, and large waves the northwestern United States. Rainfall totals of up to 8 inches are expected by Wednesday in parts of Oregon and Washington. Heavy snow is impacting the higher elevations of the Cascade Mountains, with up to an additional 20 inches of snow possible in spots. The strong onshore flow from the storm has produced waves upwards of 50 feet tall in Northern California.
The storm is expected to move across the country this week and bring heavy rain to much of the eastern United States on Thursday and Friday.
