Record Heat Baking Alaska

When one thinks of Alaska, one thinks of bone-chilling winters, permafrost, and glaciers. But in recent days, record summer heat has been baking much of the state. During the 12-day period of June 27th to July 8th, Anchorage, AK recorded an average temperature of 80.8F, which beat the previous warmest such period by over 5F. This included a rare 90F high temperature in Anchorage last Thursday. Meanwhile, the town of Talkeetna reached a blistering 93F on Sunday.
